Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre on behalf of students in the school astronomy class will take place on the 3rd day of winter.

From December 28 to 30, the classes take place in the solar system, information about the moon, the stars, the origin and development, including the Milky Way galaxy to be trained. The students in the classes of  7.8 and 9 may participate. Stars, planets, sun, space is now possible to view through a modern telescope.

3 Students selected for Delhi Faith Shorts competition

Delhi Tony Blair Faith Foundation's three school students selected this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Faith in the global film competition section for shorts. Students include 14-year-old Ishita Gupta (Film - Connecting Culture), 15-year-old amused Muraka (Film - The Mirror) and 17-year-old Sujit Roy (Film - Ansaited Faith). Their films will be showcased at BAFTA 195.

Celebrate Diwali such as these students celebrated

These have been expected, please salute them.

My students are often surprising me. He then shocked me this day of Diwali. Well, this time Diwali was passing between the depression and anxiety. But something in her joy and enthusiasm of my students gave added reason. Say that he has made my Diwali.

Then some began to whisper in the ear ideal hesitatingly Sir, why do not we Diwali Trunkant suggest that poor children also share some of my happiness? Solicit some money together and bought her some sweets and chocolates etc. distribute among children living on the pavement.

The proposal was discussed in the class and then everyone immediately agreed. It was decided that every student / student and faculty members who give of their own who did not raise her little happiness - sweets / chocolates / crackers brought them to the children who are marginalized at all.

There was also the matter of giving and sharing happiness - Being the student of journalism with their worries, problems and issues to help lift. IIM-C Lab Journal of slums around to remove something, be written in the newspapers, community radio should be discussed at the blog / Facebook etc to carry on.

It was last week and then on Friday, the Institute became the Diwali holidays. But then three days did not know what happened next?

This afternoon saw some pictures on Facebook and it's nice to see that Hindi journalism student / students - ideally, Aarti, Kamini, hope, and joy Sumit fulfilled his promise. Today, they were among the children of the pavement. Diwali celebrated with them. But the most striking thing was that they did take warm clothes with you. He also distributed warm clothes for winter in these children. The idea came to them later. But he liked these poor children come to the attention of the real problem.

Well done my friend. Concerns journalism begins from here. I know that this is just the beginning. But the flickering has raised expectations in the beginning.

Come salute these students and wish that they may live in. It concerns, give it a fresh edge to advance and journalism.

The President made awards to 26 children

President Pranab Mukherjee today gave 26 Kids '2012 National Child Awards' for exceptional achievements awarded.

The award category such as education, arts, sports, music, etc. that demonstrate competence in the four to 15 year olds are given.

The gold medal in the category of special educational availability seventh grade student of Delhi Public School fortification was tied joy. A gold medal, a citation and Rs 20,000 were given.

10 days holiday for half yearly exams - Students Shocked (10th and 12th)

All over Tamil Nadu 10th (SSLC) and 12th (HSC) Half yearly Exam starts on Nov 19th 2012, but the shocking news is there is 10days holiday in-between the exams.

CENTER FOR RESEARCH, ANNA UNIVERSITY, Chennai -25 is inviting aspirants / design geeks to design Web pages for their upcoming site.

The competition is open to Full Time UG/PG students of University Departments. The winners of the contest will receive a merit certificate and cash reward of Rs.5000/- from Center for Research, Anna University, Chennai.

Elements to be designed:

• Design of a home page
• Design of a logo
• Design of content pages

Important:

• The site should reflect the spirit and culture of the University
• Copying designs, images, logos etc., from existing web sites and other sources should be strictly avoided.
• The pages should be such that they are viewable in all the three browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome – with their few previous versions also supported) without any distortion of content or design.
• Using HTML frames should be avoided.
• Screen resolutions should be fixed at 1024 x 768
• No extra plug-ins need be used / downloaded by the end user.

Who should attend? 

This course is suitable fro Ph.D students and young scientists in India working on groundwater management by MAR. Professionals and scientists from water resources departments, water supply  departments, NGO’s, experts from Universities/ colleges/ institutes, private industries and consultants. 

Registration fee:

The registration fee is Rs. 1,000/- which has to be paid as a demand draft payable at “National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee”. The number of participants is limited to 25. Young researchers/professionals (preferably less than 40 years of age) will be chosen based on their field of research, expertise etc.

No TA/ DA will be paid. The participants are requested to make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging.

Intro :

 Increasing demand for water has resulted into over dependence on groundwater, especially in regions where surface water resources are limited and temporal rainfall is uneven. Exploitation of groundwater for various purposes has resulted in depletion of resources and rapid decline in groundwater table in several parts of the world. In order to balance the overdraft of groundwater, it is necessary to increase the rainfall recharge which will result in increase of groundwater storage and improvement in the water quantity.  

 Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) is carried 

out in many parts of the world including India to increase the rainfall recharge and combat with the present water crisis. Implementation of MAR requires knowledge about the location, quantity and quality of water recharged. In urban areas, MAR can provide effective storage for desalinated seawater, recycled water, storm water. Methods of MAR currently include aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), aquifer storage, infiltration ponds, infiltration galleries, soil aquifer treatment, percolation tanks and check dams. 

MAR can be used to address a wide range of water management issues, including, storing water in aquifers for future use, stabilizing or raising groundwater levels where over-exploited, impeding storm runoff and soil erosion, improving water quality and smoothing fluctuations, maintaining environmental flows in streams and rivers, managing saline intrusion or land subsidence, disposal or reuse of waste and storm water.

Saph Pani project :

The Saph Pani (Hindi word meaning potable water) project “Enhancement of natural water systems and treatment methods for safe and sustainable water supply in India” aims to study and improve natural water treatment systems, such as river bank filtration (RBF), MAR and wetlands in India, building local and European expertise in this field.  

 The project aims to enhance water resources and water supply, particularly in water stressed urban and peri urban areas in different parts of the Indian sub-continent. This project is co-funded by the European Union under the Seventh Framework (FP7) scheme of small or medium scale focused research projects for specific cooperation actions (SICA) dedicated to international cooperation partner countries.  

 The objective of this project is to strengthen the scientific understanding of the performancedetermining

processes occurring in the root, soil and aquifer zones. The removal and fate of important water quality parameters, such as pathogenic micro-organisms and faecal indicators, organic chemicals, nutrients and metals will be considered. The hydrological characteristics (infiltration and storage capacity) and the ecosystem functions will also be investigated since they influence the local or regional water resources management strategies (e.g. by providing buffering of seasonal variations in supply and demand). The project focuses on a set of specific case studies in India. These include a range of natural water systems and engineered treatment technologies investigated by different work-packages including RBF, MAR and constructed wetlands. companies.

7. CMMi PRESENTATION

Whether it may be the external quality concerned with the user experiences when running the software
or the internal quality concerned with the code and performance, it is always The Quality concerned
everywhere. 'Capability Maturity Model’, developed by the ‘Software Engineering Institute’, models the 5 levels of organizational ‘maturity’ that determine effectiveness in delivering quality software. The teams are expected to define the focus area of the project and provide an efficient improvement in the process considered based on CMMi principles.

Presentation will be for 12 min, followed by a 3 min Q & A session. Teams taking more time

o Will not be allowed to continue further.
Presentation should be in English.
The last date for submission of the Abstract (as a .doc or .pdf file) –31.01.2013.
No laptops are allowed for presentations. The final presentation (as POWERPOINT slides) should be
given to the organizers at least an hour before the time of the event.
Last minute changes such asin team members, abstract, etc., will not be entertained.
If the number of participating teams exceeds 15, a prelim will be held before Q Quest.
